Magazine Floorplate engraved with details of Capture, 9th August 1915, at Jacob's Post (Lone Pine Trench system) during a Counter-attack by the Turks. Extracts from the Official History of Australians in WW I, shows that earlier ( July-August) the Turks had moved Engineers up to the trenches to improve and extend their own lines in preparation for an attack.
I have been chasing a Turk1905/08 Shortie since I first saw them in SAOTW back in 1974... Now that I have the Engineers ( it is also an Artillery model as well) all I need is the Cavalry Model (no rod, side sling swivel and slot, turned down bolt). Photos of Palestine Turkish Cavalry clearly shows the M1905 version.
BTW, mine is (Turk Script) dated 1326, which makes it 1910 by my "plus-584" system of calculation...others using the more complicated ( 621 etc.) method may come up with 1909-1910. Serial number is in the 11,xxx setting.
Now, can anybody help me getting Photos onto this thread....I am a real Computer Dinosaur, but have got a good Cell-Phone Camera, with USB connectors etc.
