Hi All,
I recently inherited a few rifles from my Dad. One I found way in the back of the cabinet in an old green canvas bag caught my eye. After trying to thoroughly research it I believe I have a nice ES340B. It has a 1932XX s/n, BUG proofs and all s/n's match. It needs a cleaning but it looks to be in very nice shape. I snapped a couple of quick pics (links below). I will clean it and take better ones as soon as I have a chance. I'm hoping that someone here has a copy of the Mauser Small Bore book and can give me an idea as to the year it was mfg. I have a large number of .22 rifles but none with as heavy and nice of a barrel. I think it would be fun to scope it and see what kind of long range accuracy I can get out of it. It appears to have some collector value so I don't want to do anything to ruin it so if you know what kind of rings I could put on the rail without damaging it I'd appreciate that info as well. I'm not a serious collector of anything specific yet I appreciate my guns for what they are and I generally like to keep them in their stock configurations. That said I've always wanted to have a long range .22 that can pluck a squirrel off a branch at 200+ yards. If it would be better to find a new owner who would appreciate this rifle and take the funds and purchase something else I'm if fine. But if you all say throw the scope on and shoot it I'm good with that as well. Thanks! Dan
