Weekend Hunting Story |
Lead | |
|
Spent the weekend in KY with family and to hunt opening weekend for deer. Took this button buck late in the afternoon on Saturday.
First deer of the season. Used a 1934 Izhevsk hex receiver. Shot this deer at 150 yards over a cut soybean field. One shot and he dropped on the spot. The rifle has a Brass Stacker scope mount, NcStar 2x7x32 LER scope and rubber shoulder pad. Will not be using the rubber shoulder pad in the future as it took too much self adjustment to get a good sight picture. In hindsight the original steel shoulder pad would have been fine. Used hand loads: IMR 4320, 46 gr with Speer 150 gr SP, .311 Dia., 5219 FPS per the Lyman Manual. A very accurate load for this rifle with minimal recoil. Ooop's camera date is wrong. Sorry. ![]() ![]() |
