That's the best price I've seen in a while. (Nothing in it for me, just a satisfied customer)

There is still a pretty good bit of ammo in the hands of dealers, but they are getting a premium for it. It's one of my favorite carbines to shoot (as well as watching the grimace on the face of my friends when they shoot it the first time) But I have to take it easy on my stock of ammo.

It would seem mighty strange to keep the guns without any ammunition. The JG catalog says they have 99+, so there's still a bunch of rifles. JG used to have sealed tin cans of the ammo.

Posts: 174 Dec 11 12 2:09 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	This is just my guess, but I think we are in a brief golden window to get new ammo and components for calibers we might not see available again. Hornady is/was making 6.5 Carcano ammo and bullets, new 8x56R boxer-primed brass has been availabe from Grafs, as have the correct 0.329" diameter jacketed bullets (Hornady again?). I even recently bought new 8mm Lebel ammo from Privi. Let's face it, these calibers are not popular in the US, and once this wave of imports dies down the manufacturers will abandon these product lines. If you want to shoot your M95, Carcano, Lebel, etc. for years to come, I would be trying to make a lifetime supply buy of the hard-to-make components while this opportunity presents itself. Brass and bullets will last a VERY long time if you keep them clean and dry. The Nazi-made 8x56R ammo is nice if you can find it, but it is corrosive and Berdan primed and is at least as expensive now as making your own (which you could reload many times).

Everyone I talk to say they "have plenty of that" and didn't need anymore. But they still only ever had 4-5 boxes on the tables priced at 11-25 a box. And when I walk around earlier or later and they don't remember me they say that there isn't much 8x56 left and I'd better buy now (at their high price of course). So I have to ask; if you have so much of it you don't want more why is it so expensive and you have so little. (Probably just so they can claim that's all they have and keep the price high I guess.)

Which is just another reason to reload for it. Heck, I had the dies, cases, and bullets before I got the gun. People say I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. If I have so many guns, what do I need to be paranoid about?
