You can't buy smaller lots though.The boxes are packed in a cardboard sleeve held together with a webbed belt. I only know what I can read in the ad, but German WWII-era 8mm ammo has been off the market for years now. It's not a bargain for shooting but is about as expensive as new commercial ammo, and who knows if significant quantities German ammo will ever come up for sale again? Posts: 704 Dec 5 12 10:28 AM active member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Surplus ammo at new ammo prices is essentially worthless to me; it's too expensive to buy for shooting but not yet quite unique enough to be collectible ammo. I wouldn't mind owning a few boxes as a collector's item, but I don't need 300 rounds of the stuff. Kudos to those of you who stocked up though, it's obviously gone up in value far more rapidly than the Mauser rifles you feed this stuff.

Posts: 701 Dec 30 12 11:29 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I got a quantity of that "German" ammo from J&G back when it was still priced reasonably enough to actually shoot. I got the 1939 Hertenberger - Austrian made on contract to Germany. The battlepacks opened up to reveal ammo that looked as new as the day it was made and was some of the finest 8mm ammo I ever fired. I've got a little left to collect & some Turkish remains as my shooting ammo inventory. Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool.

In 1939, after the Anschluss in March of 1938, Nazi Germany annexed Austria nd Austria in effect became part of Germany. The ammunition is German.
