I purchased 2 boxes of Prvi Partisan 7.62 x 54R Match ammo and fired 10 rounds through each from the bench using a sandbag front rest. After taking 3-4 shots to get them on paper I have attached the photos of both targets. As you can see the Hex grouped nicely, the Round was all over the place.
I took a cartridge and placed it bullet first in the muzzle of each and measured the length from the end of the cartridge to the muzzle with dail calipers. The cartridge measured .014 shorter in the Round so I assumed that the Hex would take a .308 dia bullet and the Round a .311. Well, today I slugged both barrels an both measure .3085. I realize some guns like different loads but I wouldn't think there would be such a disparity in barrels that slug the same and using Match Grade ammo. Any suggestions?
