Hi Guy's,
I posted the following questions in the Mauser forum thinking that was what this rifle was. I now stand corrected, but still in need of some info. I will try to post pics of the rifle as soon as I get my camera charged up. A buddy I hunt with gave me this little carbine and I would like to find out more about it. I have never seen a rifle with so many markings on it. This one is serial number 3893 and every piece of steel on this thing is marked with the same numbers. Even the ladder sight is marked with the serial number. It has Erfurt 1893 with a capital S above it. At the top of the receiver under the serial # there is a lower case "g" and beside it a "Kr". The muzzle has regimental markings B.2.Ch.4.51. It has Kar 88 on the side. If anyone has info on the regimental markings, possible manufacture date of the rifle and what the various letters stand for, it would be much appreciated. I don't think it has been fired or handled very much over the years considering the condition it's in. The only thing missing is the sling. Thanks in advance for any info!
