Two days ago, it snowed in the evening - Yesterday in the morning, it was cold, crisp & a skiff of snow was still on the ground - I really wanted to take pics in the mountains, but my car gets stuck on a snowball! But there's always the rest of December, all of January, February and most of March!! We ended up picking up a Jeep Patriot last weekend to add to the fleet. I was holding out for a Wrangler Unlimited until I found the one I wanted that had all of the options I wanted and discovered it was priced too much for my wallet to handle. The Patriot has everything in and on it that I was looking for in an Unlimited for about $12K less. It's a nice vehicle, but not a Wrangler. In between car lots, we hit a few gun & pawn places and only found one 91/30 refurb that was priced $175 with "very little wiggle room " on the price according to the dealer. he never gave a wiggled price, so I left. I've got a few Finn'ed 91/30's one with only an SA mark on the receiver, everything else is straight Russian, stock, sights and all. The other has a potbelly stock and stacked front sight and is one of the nicest looking and shooting 91/30's I've got here. I'd like to come across a nice 91/30 that has been finn'ed and recaptured and refurb'ed and sold at a refurb price.

I also miss the days of Pheasants erupting cackling from practically your feet undercover of weeds/etc. This area used to be king in WA State of upland bird hunting - There are a couple roosters hanging around, along with a bunch of quail - I put away my shotgun years ago(cept for gophers....ehh NotPC?...) Now I am happy to just see birds doing their thing..... Pahtu.

I've been absent from this forum for too long and seeing this post straight-off has me wondering why? Of the three Soviet 91-30s I have, two are SA marked and one of those is an excellent refurbished, 1933 Izhevskv, however, I believe yours is the better looking of the two, with those brass escutcheons and very clear stampings in the wood.
