I'll also be loading for my Garands as well. Any suggestions for accuracy. Velocity is not a premium for these matches but accuracy is. Posts: 1523 Dec 26 12 1:31 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Bill, For target loads in the -06 I've done best with 168gr. bullets and 47.0 grs of IMR4064. Most of the match grade 168s are very good. For 155 gr Palmas 48 grs of IMR 4896 is a winner and all work very well in the military rifles. Rich P

Posts: 2553 Dec 27 12 1:10 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Bill- my 1917s seem to like bullets with a flat bottom and large bearing surface- looking at the log, 220 round nosers and 200-grain spitzers shoot best in four out of five of mine. (One likes 147 M2s, but there is a wild child in every litter..) Powders are 4831, 4350 and 4895. Garands- 46.5 (milbrass) or 47.0 (commercial brass) of 4895 with a 168 FMJBT and a #34 primer. I have to be honest about this, I have loaded up both IMR and H 4895 and have yet to feel or see a difference. I know. I know,...but it's true.

My best (most accurate) load is using Winchester brass, CCI 200 LR primers, moly-coated 168 grain SMK, 53.8 grains of AA2700, 3.350" OAL. The boat tail bullet works well in my rifle, but the bore is in excellent condition. The moly coating is claimed to lower the chamber pressure, and it definitely increases the velocity using the same powder charge.
