So I went to the range yesterday with an old friend and his wife (his WIFE!) and we had a ball. We shot his FN P90 (a registered SBR), his FS2000, and his "Super Duper, Wowie Zowie" Tactical .308 I forget what it is. Though feeling somewhat alien to me, I liked the P90. It shoots pretty well at 100 yards, has a nice Trijicon reflex sight, and is a handy little thing. The FS 2000 feels a little better to me, but I don't really think I'm a bullpup sort of guy at the end of the day.
I brought along one of my M1 Carbines for his wife to shoot, and she really liked it. Light, handy, and accurate enough at 100 yards to ruin anyone's day. I also took the Yugoslavian M76 and two boxes of ammo. I like that rifle. It is accurate and shoots well enough off hand to make one smile. My friend liked it too, though he tends to be a "high tech modern sort of guy." I also shoot my Yugoslavian M72 RPK clone for the first time. Not much though as it has a horrible case of trigger slap and I've got to tear it down soon and fix that problem. I first fired some older reloads with a 110 grain SP that was designed for the .30 carbine, and they shot OK, but then I went to a 127 grain HP loaded to a good velocity and it slapped the crap out of my trigger finger. I tried five and said that's enough. However the 25 rounds I shot in total grouped pretty well at 25 yards, and acceptabely at 100. Though I wasn't trying to do much more than familiarize myself with the rifle.
All in all, a good day.
