Original Military Stocks for VZ24 Mausers

Posts: 2 Jan 3 13 12:49 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None I own a 1928 Czechoslovakian Republic VZ24 (8mm) Mauser that I inherited from my Great Uncle. My gunsmith informs me that the rifle is in good condition and that the value of my Mauser would increase significantly if I replaced the sporterized stock currently on the rifle with an original military stock. As I understand the VZ24 rifle, there were two variations on the rifle bolt configuration: a straigt bolt [model 47] and a bolt that was belt downward [model 48]. My rifle is a model 47 with the straight bolt. Can anyone tell me where I may be able to buy an original militaty stock with hardware for my VZ24?

Posts: 387 Jan 3 13 6:23 PM active member Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Welcomwe to Parallax Bill's!! VZ24 stocks can often be found on ebay, complete with handguard and hardware. Unfortunately, I just checked and none are available right now. Be sure to read through the threads here for VZ24 pictures. Notice that the VZ24 has a distinctive sling loop that goes through the wrist of the stock, and the rear band has two sling loops. While some other mausers have these features, the VZ24 is the most common of mausers with them.

Posts: 61 Jan 20 13 7:59 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	There is a Vz-24 with turned down bolt-the 7mm contract that went to Brazil.Had the side of the stock dished out for a turned down bolt that had a flattend knob.Yup the Yugo rework of the Vz-24 is the 24/52c.There are Vz-24 stocks on Ebay and gunbroker.Should be able to find one with all bands and hardware and Hand guard.An easy restoration project.When you look for a stock make sure to look at the pictues.People sell stocks without really getting the correct ID.They can confuse yugo M-48,M-24/47 FN 24 and Vz-24 stocks and all call them Vz-24 stock.There are plenty pictures of Vz-24 rifles on Gunbroker and in Mauser rifle books-1)Mauser bolt rifles,2)Mauser military rifles of the world,3)Bolt action rifles of the world.Really if you want to get into all this you should try to buy all 3 of these books."You are only as good as your reference Material"

The VZ-24 was purchased about 45 years ago when I lived in eastern CT. The VZ-23 (mystery Mauser) came from Wholesale Guns and Ammo about 5 or 6 years ago. I don't think they knew what they had because it cost all of $150. Both rifles have excellent bores. The rear sling swivel on the VZ-23 will rotate about a quarter of a turn. Carl
