Serial number A0710, with reserve magazine and holster. Reference to Vanderlinden "The Belgian Browning Pistols" and "FN Browning Pistols": "The French government contract range is believed to start with contract number A0001." These contract pistols were fabricated from left over parts from the wartime German occupation and newly made parts. The magazines bear the -FN-/7.65 m/m marking, which I understand to be proper marking for late war time and post war magazines. The holster is quite nice, although does have some issues that would not be as left manufacturer. I will post a seperate reply to this post, relating to the holster. This style holster is pictured in Vanderlinden's "Holsters and Shoulder-Stocks of the World" Page 81, figure 81-2, "Pistol: FN Browning 1922; Country of/use: Belgium, police." "This pattern was FN's standard police pattern for the FN Browning 1922. "It was most likely used by numerous countries". So, perhaps not true French contract for the pistol, but likely used?
