According to information I found on this forum, I identified the rifle as a Spanish Model 1916 rifle because of the barrel length of 22" measured from the face of the bolt to the muzzle and the stock does not go all the way to the muzzle. The bore is in excellent condition. It is dated 1928 and manufactured at the Oviedo factory. The magazine has a hinged floor plate and the rear sight is the tangent type. The serial number is S 5546.
All the numbers are matching except the bolt. The stock has the normal amount of dings & dents but not very bad. It looks like Spanish walnut.
After removing the firing pin assembly, I used several loaded rounds of 7mm Mauser ammo to check the head space and it checks out very good. I am looking forward to shooting this little rifle as soon as I get the copper out of the bore so I can start with a clean bore.
Any additional information this forum users can provide would be appreciated.
